Seishi Ninomiya​

Field Phenomics Laboratory, Graduate School of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the University of Tokyo.​

Dr. Seishi Ninomiya is a Professor Emeritus at the University of Tokyo, where he studied plant breeding, plant physiology, applied statistics, and computer science. He is one of APAN Agriculture Working Group founders. After serving as an assistant professor at the University of Tokyo, a laboratory head at the National Institute of Agro-Environmental Science, and a research director at the National Agriculture and Food Research Organization (NARO) Japan, he returned to the University of Tokyo as a professor. He has long been a leader in interdisciplinary research between computer science and agricultural science, including plant phenomics. He has been involved in many major national research projects as well as many international collaborative research projects. In recognition of his achievements, he was awarded the Japan Agronomy Prize, the highest award for agricultural research in Japan. He is currently Editor-in-Chief of Plant Phenomics, a professor at Nanjing Agricultural University, President of CIGR (International Commission of Agricultural and Biosystems Engineering), and a member of the Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries Technology Council under the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries of Japan.
